Day 107: How You Know You’re in Alignment
What does it even mean to be in alignment?
It’s all in how you feel at any given moment.
When you walk into a situation and feel yourself breathe a little easier, that’s a sign you’re in alignment.
You feel comfortable.
Confident.
At ease.
Connected in a way you don’t feel in other situations.
When I walk down to the beach for sunrise in the morning, I feel aligned.
I feel it when my bare feet hit the sand as I step out of the motorhome.
As I see the ocean up ahead, I feel it in my heart.
And as I step into the deep, powdery sand and look in each direction, seeing only a couple of people far away, my whole body tunes in to the rhythm of the ocean.
There is no price tag on the happiness I feel being on an empty beach watching the sun come out of the ocean.
Alignment is instinctive.
You feel it in your bones.
It’s soul deep.
It’s like your soul is saying thank you every time you’re in this state.
And sometimes it goes even further into bliss.
You forget everything else in your life for those moments.
You are completely in the present.
No to-do list.
Nothing else.
Just now.
Right now.
Alignment in your relationships and your work feels the same way.
You feel like all is right in your world.
Nothing feels the same as being aligned and congruent within yourself.
It’s like you stand up straighter.
Your voice is more grounded in your body.
You can feel your inner strength.
It’s the same when I write these emails to you.
I’m completely immersed.
I lose track of time.
I feel connected to you.
I can see you in my mind’s eye, like we’re both right here in the same room as I have this conversation and type the words.
What are the situations in your life where you feel this way?
These are the parts of your life that are in alignment.
The question then becomes:
How can I bring myself into alignment in other areas of my life?
It starts with paying attention.
What are you feeling?
What are you thinking?
What’s happening in your body?
These are all indicators.
They tell you when something is aligned, and when it’s not.
There have been times in my life where I found myself in relationships, in work, in places I lived, that had been good for a time.
But I could feel that time had passed.
Because I was no longer in alignment with them.
We grow.
We change.
And very few things stay with us for the entire journey.
Most things shift.
They evolve.
They come and go.
You stay in alignment by listening to your inner voice.
By paying attention to your emotional signals.
And then doing something with the information you receive.
Take a quiet moment today.
Think of a time when you felt completely at ease.
Where your body felt relaxed.
Where everything just felt… right.
Notice that feeling.
Then gently ask yourself:
“Where in my life do I feel this now?”
And just as important:
“Where do I not?”
No judgment.
Just awareness.
If this resonates, I’d love to hear where in your life you feel most aligned right now.
With you,
Lynn
