Day 119: You Can Choose Differently at Any Moment
“I have the freedom to refine and reinvent myself daily.”
That’s from my program, Change One Thing, Change Your Life.
It popped into my head after I finished my meditation.
We all want freedom.
This gives us the opportunity to have the freedom to choose differently in any area of our life or our overall life at any moment.
And it sounds simple.
But when you really sit with it, it changes everything.
Because if that’s true…
then the past doesn’t define who you are today.
And that means you’re not stuck.
Not in your habits. Not in your patterns.
Not in the way you’ve always done things.
As you become more aware of yourself, you start to see this more clearly.
You notice the moments where you’re about to do something the same way you always have.
And in that moment, you realize you have a choice.
There’s no more “that’s just the way I am.”
Because it isn’t.
It’s just something you’ve been repeating.
And you can stop.
Right there.
You can say, “No more.”
That’s a powerful place to be.
Because every real change happens in a moment.
At some point, you make a decision.
Before that, there’s often a lot of time spent going back and forth.
Thinking about it.
Avoiding it.
Telling yourself it’s too hard or too uncomfortable.
But that space…
that being on the fence…
is often more stressful than the decision itself.
Once you decide, something shifts.
There’s direction.
There’s movement.
There’s a sense of clarity that wasn’t there before.
When you avoid making a change because it feels difficult or painful, it tends to show up in other areas too.
That same hesitation.
That same delay.
And over time, it creates the stress you were trying to avoid in the first place.
So instead of pushing that feeling away, you can use it.
Let it show you where something is ready to change.
Let it be the catalyst.
Because each time you choose differently, even in a small way, you build something.
A sense of freedom.
A sense of inner strength.
A trust in yourself that wasn’t there before.
Today’s Gentle Practice
Take a quiet moment today.
Notice if you catch yourself in a pattern you don’t like.
Something you’ve done many times before.
Pause.
And gently ask yourself:
“Do I want to continue this, or choose something different?”
You don’t have to change everything.
Just make one small shift.
Then notice how it feels.
If you feel like sharing, you can hit reply and tell me one pattern you’re ready to change, even just a little.
With you,
Lynn
