Day 205: Just 1% Better
Want to know how I realized I was not setting up my day on a positive, optimistic way?
I read this Louise Hay quote and my inner voice responded, yeah, right.
"I look forward with enthusiasm to the adventures of the day."
Not something I would usually scoff at because one of the major tenets I live by is that my life is a happy adventure.
So it made me stop right there and ask myself where that came from.
It is healthy to have these kinds of conversations with your inner voice, really.
And it pointed to the last couple of days with tech struggles, reworking a project I thought was already finished.
Lots of client work coming in, which goes on the positive side.
Things are coming together at the motorhome, slowly.
And some other small tasks that I don't want to do. Along with things I've been moving along in my calendar for months until now there's a whole block of them that get shifted to the future every 4 days.
All of that was shown to me in a flash of insight.
So yes, that was a good point, I have some things I've allowed to pile up. I'm pretty sure humans do that to some degree or another.
In that moment I realized that if I didn't want my day to start sliding sideways, I needed to turn it around. Because the vibrational frequency I was putting out was only going to bring more of that same energy into my day.
More than whether we feel good or not so good, what really matters is that we consciously make a decision that we want to feel even a tiny bit better.
Just feeling 1% better is a good place to start.
It's up to us to decide we want relief from the emotions we have been feeling that are lower vibrational frequencies than what we want to be putting out into the world.
Because that same frequency is what we will get back.
So incrementally, we shift to one slightly better feeling thought at a time.
We don't pretend everything is wonderful or deny what is frustrating, heavy, or unfinished.
We simply decide we don't want to keep feeding the same emotional loop.
Relief comes from that deliberate effort, because you have taken the reins and are in control of your emotional set point, right now in this moment.
The reason I meditate, walk on the beach, do the spiritual reading that I do every single morning is to deliberately focus my mind and my emotions on what will allow me to be in flow and at peace as much as possible throughout my day.
Whether you have 2 minutes or 2 hours is not the point. The point is that you are consciously making an effort to create a self-led life by noticing your emotions and shifting them in a way that supports you.
A shift of feeling 1% better is enough to change the direction of the whole day.
Today's Gentle Practice
Notice the emotional tone you are bringing into your day.
Ask yourself:
What is one thought that would help me feel 1% better right now?
You don't have to jump from frustrated to joyful.
You don't have to pretend everything feels wonderful.
Just reach for one small feeling of relief and let that be enough to begin shifting your day.
With you,
Lynn
