Day 231: You Are Not Just This Body
Have you ever thought of all the different bodies you've occupied in your time on earth?
We each came into this life as a wrinkly little baby. And if we're lucky, we'll leave as a wrinkly old person.
In between we live in many different bodies. They all transform from one type of body into another.
I was born a big fat baby that looked like the Michelin Man. Then I became a sickly toddler, and a skinny kid. My body was very different at every decade.
And now, at 70, my body is heading into the wrinkly stage again.
Our bodies are in a perpetual state of transformation.
So how can we be just a body, when we are constantly getting a new one. None of the cells that made up my body at 50 are still part of my body.
I believe we need to flip the concept of being a body with a soul, and look at ourselves as being a soul who has taken on this shell for this lifetime.
We are a soul that has a body.
The body is not who we are. It's more like transportation and a place for our soul to live while we're here.
Our bodies matter. They carry us, speak to us, and let us experience this life, but they were never meant to be the whole story of who we are.
And when our time here is done, we will transcend this body and our soul will go on.
It's likely that at some point you've felt the presence of a loved one after they've passed.
Their essence is still there. Only the body has been left behind.
When we see each other as souls instead of bodies, it allows us to give ourselves and other so much more grace.
It also gives us a clearer understanding of how we attract what we experience through the vibration we live at.
That vibration brings us thoughts that align with it, then people and experiences that align with those thoughts.
You can see life as it is and get more of what you already have. Or you can see it as you choose it to be and attract that experience.
The Teachings of Abraham say that this is why the better it gets, the better it gets. And the worse it gets, the worse it gets. Because people tend to look mostly at what is.
When we look at what is and assume that's all there is, we settle for more of the same.
When we choose to transform our experience and transcend what we are now living, we can do that by seeing life as we want it to be.
Everything is fluid. Nothing is set in stone.
We forget that because the present moment can feel so solid.
But every version of us that once felt permanent eventually became another chapter.
You aren't the person you were when you were born. You've changed dramatically, so many times.
Your body has transformed. Your beliefs have transformed. Your desires have transformed.
Your understanding of life has transformed.
So why would this current version of your life be the one thing that can't transform too?
Maybe the body has been showing us all along that transformation is natural.
And now we can use that as a reminder that we can transform our life experiences by living from the soul instead of only identifying with the body.
Today's Gentle Practice
Think about one version of yourself you have already outgrown.
Ask yourself:
What did that version of me teach me, and what is my soul ready to choose now?
You don't have to reject who you were.
Just notice how many times you've already transformed.
Let that remind you that this current version of your life is not fixed.
You're allowed to become more of who your soul came here to be.
With you,
Lynn
