Day 244: Try the Future On
How do we begin to create a vision of what we want our life to feel like, look like, and function moving forward?
If I asked you to tell me what that future is for you, right now, you'd probably panic and your mind might go blank.
It sounds like a big undertaking to figure that out, because what if you get it wrong?
And for that reason, most of us just let things play out rather than take that chance of making a wrong move.
Long before AI started giving us answers, we had our imagination and our intuition doing it for us.
And while AI can often be completely wrong, our imagination and intuition come from our highest self, guiding us in the way only they can.
From the beginning of the year I've mentioned that it's a good idea to start listening to the voice in your head and differentiating if the voice you're hearing is your ego or your higher self.
One giveaway is that your higher self is never mean to you and will not try to hold you back from living as your full self.
When it comes to the vision for your future, starting with what you do today, your inner voice, or your intuition, is always guiding you.
When I went to the beach to take photos this morning as the sun rose somewhere behind the big clouds, I walked through a different lot than I normally do.
The voice in my head, which is what I like to call my intuition, said to go that way. So I did.
99.9% of the time I do as my higher self tells me in the moment, when it's little stuff.
For the big life changing stuff, there are a few times when I say I'm not ready or I'm too scared.
Our higher self is only there to help, and it simply adjusts the invitation.
When your higher self speaks to you in the form of intuition, enter the conversation. Make it your friend and guide. Tell it the truth you don't feel like you can tell anyone else.
It will give you much better, completely personalized, information than what you'll get from AI.
As you learn to be open to your intuition, you'll also feel comfortable visualizing your future life.
I look at visualizing as nothing more than day dreaming. It's just like when you remember something from the past, only this is recognizing something in your future.
Just relax and try some things on to see how they fit.
You're not signing a contract with the first image that comes to mind.
You're gathering information from your own body, emotions, and inner knowing.
Picture yourself in different situations and see how they feel, not for a fantasy life, but for a real day-to-day life.
When I was wondering if I could possibly be happy with the RV lifestyle, that's exactly what I did.
I would imagine myself on a beach, in different types of RVs, opening the door in the morning.
How had I slept? Was it comfortable inside or did it feel cramped? Were the dogs comfortable? Was there enough space for them? How was the temperature? How easy was it to prepare food? Did I have a good work space or was it impractical?
I would ask myself those questions as I put myself inside different possible scenarios to see which one felt the best.
You can do that with a new relationship, home, job, or even a move to another city or country.
Visualizing makes the possibilities more real because your brain reacts to your emotions in the moment. It doesn't know the difference between something real or something imagined.
So the reaction you get, the way you feel, is information.
It may show you what feels expansive or cramped.
It may show you what sounds good in theory, but doesn't actually feel like you.
And eventually you begin to notice your dominant preference, the one that brings the most good feelings.
And as you continue to focus on those things that make you feel good, you'll be a vibrational match for bringing more of those things into your life.
And before you know it, pieces that match the future you've been feeling into begin to show up.
You don't have to figure out the whole future today. Just begin the conversation.
Let your intuition speak, and your imagination show you pictures.
Try the future on and notice what feels like truth.
Today's Gentle Practice
Think about one area of your future that feels unclear.
Ask yourself:
What would I try on in my imagination if I didn't have to get it right today?
Let yourself picture one simple scene.
A morning.
A room.
A conversation.
A place.
A way your body feels when you wake up.
Don't force it into a plan.
Just notice what feels expansive, calm, honest, or alive.
Your future may begin as a feeling before it becomes a form.
With you,
Lynn
