Day 85: Why Chasing Keeps You Stuck (and What to Do Instead)
Three things inspired me this morning.
All having to do with the clarity we need to move forward and feel confident doing so.
One was a Louise Hay quote:
I feel reborn. I feel free from the past, and I joyously welcome the new.
How would life be different if that was the first thing you said to yourself each morning when you wake up?
I was also reminded by Wayne Dyer that chasing what you want is like trying to squeeze a handful of water.
The tighter you squeeze, the less water you get.
When you are chasing something, your life becomes consumed by it, and you become a victim of always wanting more.
How does this happen?
The chase never ends.
It shifts from one goal to a slightly bigger one, and then another, so you never feel like you’ve arrived.
You’re left always chasing something just out of reach.
This is how many people live their entire lives.
And yet, allowing is so much easier.
Instead of trying to grab the water, just open your hand and allow it to fill your palm.
Then you can have as much as you want.
It flows right to you.
And it leads you right back to the beautiful statement from Louise Hay.
The third thing was lesson 30 in my program, Change One Thing, Change Your Life.
The questions in today’s lesson asked me about the evidence I’m seeing of what I’m moving toward.
And also how I might be holding myself back with thoughts of being undeserving of something I want.
I listed the things that are happening to support what I’m moving into, and then I looked at what might be slowing me down.
That could be doubt.
Second guessing.
Or in my case, a few quiet “what ifs” in the background.
As I get closer, new “what ifs” pop up.
That’s normal.
That part of your mind whose job is to protect you will always scan for every possible risk.
And that’s okay.
Your job is simply to say,
“Thanks for looking out for me. I’ve got this.”
You want to listen just enough to stay aware.
Because occasionally, it will show you something useful.
But most of the time, if you’ve been following your inner voice, your intuition, your gut, this is just your system checking in because you’re stepping into something new.
It comes from love, not fear.
So I looked at my “what ifs” and realized they were valid concerns.
And I also realized I have a plan, I have time, and everything will get done.
Once I acknowledged that, that voice quieted down.
It had done its job.
And I was safe.
The truth is, your whole body, mind, and soul are one supportive ecosystem, working together for your joy and happiness.
If you allow it.
If you stop resisting what’s trying to flow into your life.
You are meant to thrive.
And feel good doing it.
You are a unique, shining light in this world.
Your contribution matters.
You are a necessary piece of this puzzle.
You are a deeply loved soul.
The well-being we talked about is always right there, just outside your awareness, waiting for you to let it in.
And that stream of well-being is ready to bring you what you choose.

Today’s Gentle Practice
Take a moment today and notice something you feel like you’re chasing.
Pause for a moment.
Gently ask yourself:
What would it feel like to allow this instead of chase it?
You don’t have to change anything right away.
Just notice the difference in how it feels.
If this resonated, I’d love to hear what you noticed today.
Just hit reply and share with me.
With you,
Lynn
